Romney White has worked with VM since Vm/370 was released to customers in 1972. Beginning at the Univesity of Waterloo in Canada, he built a world-wide reputation as a VM expert. He created the University of Waterloo VM Software distribution library and founded the popular VM Workshop.

From 1981 to 1997, Romney was engaged in private enterprise, founding four VM-based software companies. In 1972, he joined IBM's VM Develpment organization in Endicott, NT, where he is currently employed. When Linux for S/390 first emerged within IBM, Romney and some of his VM colleagues were instrumental in bringing to the fore the potential contribution of VM to a Linux environment. Today, he continues his career-long efforts to identify and develop innovative solutions to problems in the VM environment.
