The Midwest VM Regional Users Group sponsors day long meetings during which attendees can get help with problems, find out what other VM sites are doing, listen to technical presentations from a software vendor or two, and get the latest information from the IBM development teams.
Meetings are normally held on the fourth Friday of January, April, and October. Meetings begin at 9:00 a.m. and end by 4:00 p.m. We always arrange for a dutch-treat dinner on Thursday evening for those whose travel plans include an overnight stay. Some great VM stories can be heard at these dinners. It is worth the price of admission to the meeting just to participate in these dinners. Speaking of admission, yes, we do normally collect a modest fee to cover the cost of meeting rooms, refreshments and other incidentals. However, for a number of years now, we have been able to eliminate the collection of our normal fees due to the generousity of member companies who have volunteered to host our meetings. As long as we continue to receive this support, we will pass those savings on to you by waiving or reducing the meeting/membership fees. And, speaking of support, MVMRUG has lost some key members who have been helping organize and host our meetings. We are looking for for people who would be willing to help line up speakers, host meetings and assist with meeting logistics. Without such support it is likely that there will be no more MVMRUG meetings.
