 9:15 a.m. The Very Basics of z/VM
           Brian Wade
           IBM

           Abstract

           The Very Basics of z/VM:

This presentation will give you a strong understanding of what
the industry buzzword "virtualization" means in the context of
System z processors and the z/VM operating system. Key topics
will include System z computing concepts, the virtual machine
model, commands and facilities for configuring virtualized
resources, virtual machine scheduling and dispatching, methods
for virtualizing memory and I/O devices, and ways z/VM's virtual
machine model transcends mere hardware virtualization.

10:15 a.m. Break

10:30 a.m. Extreme Filesystem Sharing Experience with Linux
Using a Read-Only Root FS at Nationwide
           Rick Troth
           Nationwide

           Abstract
If filesystem sharing is a popular sport in virtualization,
then read-only root is teh extreme flavor of that game.
But read-only root is not new to the POSIX world and
allows better control and higher reliability for virtual
systems. Come see and hear how we share Linux fielsystems
           at Nationwide Insurance.

11:30 p.m. Lunch (maybe we can beat the downtown restaurant rush)

 1:00 p.m. FREE - FOR - ALL

 1:30 p.m. z/VM System Limits
           Brian Wade
           IBM

           Abstract

This presentation examines z/VM's theoretical and practical
operating limits. It discusses the reports and other data you
can use to evaluate how close your system is to those limits.
Included is a brief look at some of the ways IBM tests these
           limits.

 2:30 p.m. Break

2:45 p.m. Tending the Sanity of the Flock
           SAN Experiences at Nationwide
           Rick Troth
           Nationwide

           Abstract

Come hear how Nationwide is leveraging their SAN
for cost effective file storage and interconnectedness
The size of their flock of penguins brings challenges
to SAN interconnect which may not have been seen
elsewhere. This secover how they wire-in SAN disks
to Linux on VM and to VM itself.

 3:45 p.m. Door Prizes

 4:00 Closing/Q & A/Socializing
