11:00 a.m. Monitoring and Tuning Linux under z/VM
Barton Robinson, President and Founder,
Velocity Software, Inc.
Abstract
These presentations will focus on measuring and
tuning. It is impossible to tune a system without
knowledge of current performance. Making things
more difficult, the Linux under the z/VM environment
is making radical changes with every release of Linux
patches or z/VM. Thus the needs for measurements
change regularly and so must your tuning methods.

Disaster Recovery for z/VM & Linux/390
John Hall,
Safe Software
Abstract
The emergence of Linux/390 on z/VM has brought new
interest to the Z/vm platform. One of the first
tools you need when deploying Linux on the mainframe
is a reliable disaster recovery solution. Histori-
cally, z/VM installations have used expensive vendor
solutions or complicated and difficult to maintain
DDR implementations. This session covers why you
need to have a disaster recovery plan, what needs to
be in it, and options for implementation, including
an overview of Safe Software's newest product: SafeDR
a cost effective, turnkey z/VM disaster recovery
solution.

2:30 p.m. What new with z/VM V4.4 and Beyond?
Reed Mullen,
